The 2nd Annual Bolton to the Barns was a great success with 91 skiers, 1,101 miles skied, and over $18,000 dollars raised to benefit the the VYCC's conservation and educational programming. Seventeen intrepid skiers lay tracks early on the "Crew Leader" Route, which meant they skiied approximately 17 miles in total that day! All 91 skiers began the 11 mile "Crew Member" Route mid-morning, which took skiers through scenic terrain between the Bolton Valley Nordic Center and the West Monitor Barn. Snow conditions were excellent and, despite the forecast, skiers only had to endure an occasional sprinkle of rain. Upon arrival to the barn, skiers were greeted by the lively tunes of Something with Strings, as well as hot chili, tasty crepes, and a cold beverage.

We would like to sincerely thank all of the Bolton to the Barns sponsors, skiers, donors, and volunteers for making it such a fantastic event! We hope you'll join us again next year!

The SECOND ANNUAL (!) Bolton to the Barns ski tour is a mid-winter Nordic event for experienced backcountry ski enthusiasts. On Saturday, March 5th, skiers will have a great opportunity to spend a day in the hills of Vermont and help the VYCC create opportunities for young Vermonters wishing to play an active role in conserving the Vermont landscape.

The registration fee for the tour is $50 which includes access to Bolton Valley's Nordic Center; one complimentary beer, one crepe, and a lot of chili upon your return to the barn; and an awesome day of skiing with some truly fantastic folks!

Students and VYCC Alumni are eligible for a reduced rate of $25!

We encourage all skiers to seek sponsorships for their ski tour to help support the VYCC in its educational programming and conservation efforts. For those who raise $125 or more, we will waive the registration fee. Please visit the Fundraising page for more information. Also, even if you're not skiing, you can help with our fundraising efforts by creating a fundraising page and joining (or forming your own) fundraising team.

Not a skier? Volunteer for the event or simply join us for post-tour fesitivities at the West Monitor Barn! The fee for attendance is just $15 (waived for volunteers) and includes one complimentary beer, one crepe, a lot of chili, live music and more! We expect the party to get underway around 1:00.

Register today!

Skiers will have TWO options:

"Crew Member" Route: This will be an 11-mile route that leaves from the Bolton Valley Nordic Center at 10:15. Shuttles for this route will leave the West Monitor Barn at 9:30.

"Crew Leader" Route: This route will add approximately 2.5 additional hours of skiing and allow participants to explore the more remote sections of Bolton’s Nordic Center. We anticipate that this route will add six additional miles, but this will be influenced by weather and snow conditions. Shuttles for this route will leave the West Monitor Barn at 7:30 and we expect to be skiing shortly after 8:00.

Upon arrival at the Monitor Barns, warm food will await hungry, triumphant, and deserving skiers. Other festivities will include live music, a warm bonfire, and libations.

Space is limited so be sure to register today. For additional information, please contact Breck Knauft at 802.434.3969, ext. 110. In the meantime, watch the video of Breck's January scouting trip below.
